I'm James Toomer, the creator of BigAFFMarketing.com and variety of other web properties. I'm your well-placed experienced sales and marketing source bringing you the behind-the-scenes scoop from the world of internet marketing and my life as an online marketer living in Salt Lake City, Utah.

To be honest with you, I didn't know the first thing about internet marketing until that day in 2013 when I typed the words "How to make money online" into Google. That was the first time I signed up and subscribed to someone's email list.

I started buying courses and did my best to apply what they taught me, but it was as if each one was missing pieces of crucial information. I felt overwhelmed and frustrated and with all the work I had done, I still never made a dime.

From my experience it's hard to find people that contribute amazing value to the marketplace and operate with integrity when you're just starting out. As I started reading about the success stories of what people did to become successful, I started to apply some the things I was learning. But I still struggled to put all the pieces together of what seemed like a complicated puzzle.

I was buying information products from people in the internet marketing community (guru's??? experts???) for at least a couple of years before I realized this: I actually knew as much if not more than 90% of the people I was buying from.

This was when I realized that in order to make the breakthrough, I needed a mentor. So I began to invest in myself, and instead of buying more $10 products, I did some research and found someone who I thought could help me.

While they were very successful, I soon realized that maybe their success now came from selling high ticket coaching programs that were supposed to benefit the students, when in reality only ended up mostly benefiting the teacher. Not knocking the experience, it just didn't work for me. Lesson learned. A very expensive lesson however.

The next investment however, paid off as I was fortunate enough to find Jeff Johnson and the Traffic and Leads Training Academy. Click on this link, look this guy up. (If nothing less, do yourself a favor and take advantage of the great information he is offering...)

I finally found a winner - no more excuses not to succeed.

Jeff truly cares about his reputation, and his approach to teaching produced results. You may think that you're not able to afford a mastermind mentor; I believe that you can't NOT afford one.

I also exposed myself to the teachings of the internet marketing masters Mark Ling, Eric Louviere, Frank Kern, Dan Kennedy and Rich Schefren, James Schramko just to name a few. I still find it interesting to study how people do business to take any ideas I might get and incorporate them into my business. You should be doing the same. Please feel free to share any experiences you have, as we can all benefit from good role models who share good advice. You never know where the next "big idea" is going to come from.

But enough of my inspirational rant, time to come down off the soap box. Now back to the story.

In my past life, I held positions as a Marketing Specialist or a Territory Sales Manager in several different corporations in the Automotive, Industrial Hygiene, and Ski Industries; most of which involved a large amount of travelling.

This allowed me to see the world and meet a variety of people from many different walks of life, the majority of my time spending 50-60+ hours a week living the life of a road warrior in my mobile command unit.

Life on the road was tough both physically and emotionally, and my personal relationships suffered as well. I always thought about how great it would be get off of the road but I just couldn't imagine leaving my career after so many years of hard work. I was passionate about my work, not so passionate about the life I was living...

Ultimately, my decision was made easier when the company sold the division and I was given the choice to either relocate and continue on my set course, or find new employment. Choosing the second option, I decided to leave everything behind and completely redesign my life.  I was free to figure out what I wanted and how I was going to get it. 

Embracing this new opportunity, I began to follow my dreams and completely re-invented myself. I began working towards the dream of becoming a digital marketer; or a "Laptop Samurai" as I prefer to call it.

This website is my way of helping people realize the same dream, and I believe it's my obligation to share my knowledge.

That's why I created this website, to pay forward what I have learned in this career, and share my experiences to arm you with the knowledge and the confidence to power through.  INSIDER TIP: Good karma is good business.
